Lack of Compassion at Doraville City Hall Posted in the Doraville Forum

This was removed for some reason off the current list of topics. Could it be it hit a sour note with the powers that be at City Hall? Well here it is again to remind folks of the calibre of leadership we have leading Doraville:

An indisputable source has leaked that the leadership at City Hall had initially planned not to send flowers to officer Shane Wilson’s funeral because “we don’t have any money.” Eventually, flowers were sent in the name of City Hall but paid for by an individual in another city entity embarrassed by the fact that City Hall was not going to send flowers.

This is a fact, not idle gossip.

This is not only ridiculous, but outright despicable and disrespectful to that officer and his family. At the very least Donna Pittman could have used some of that $70,000 she is being overpaid to pay for the flowers.

She seems to have forgotten a few things, in addition to common decency:

(1) When her daughter called 911 when they thought Donna was having a heart attack a while back, a whole squad of police cars quickly sped to her home to offer help.

(2) Officers, at Donna’s request, often drive by her house at night and flash their spotlights on her home to offer a sense
of security.

(3) Donna didn’t have any problem using an on-duty police officer to chauffeur her downtown to the state capitol instead of driving herself or taking MARTA. That’s just a few examples of how the city police department was there for Donna.

And she couldn’t muster enough money or try to find a way to fund sending flowers to an officer’s funeral?

Oh yeah, she had an eloquent (and obviously ghost-written) comment on the city web site:

The Mayor issued the following statement…
No words can adequately convey the immeasurable grief that grips our city and this organization.
First and foremost, our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Detective Robert Shane Wilson.
Shane was a courageous, young officer of the highest caliber and a rising star in the department. He died just as he had lived… a hero – a hero that protected the innocent and served the people of this city and state with bravery, honor and the utmost integrity.
I take comfort in the words of Jesus from his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:9)…“blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.”

In light of the flowers fiasco, makes you kind of wonder just how sincere even this message really was…

Did it ever occur to you that it could have been removed out of respect for the officer and his family? Due to the fact that there is bound to be lawsuit(s) filed against the perp? That it is articles like yours taking slams at people you dislike serve no useful purpose other than to make a tragedy a worse tragedy? Grow up and use you head for something else besides an ear divider. Does the officer’s family really need to read stuff such as this?

First all, it is stating a truth about the leadership of Doraville…not just “against someone I don’t like.”

Secondly, it is out of respect for the officer and his family that things like this are exposed so they don’t happen again. The behavior of leaders at city hall is sickening.

Thirdly, these types of things go unnoticed or are swept under the rug and people never know what low lifes are actually running our city. And you continue to hear “oh, she’s sooooo sweet,” or “our leaders are doing a great job.” Ugh! Maybe that’s why it is in the disgusting shape it is in. And people like you perpetuate this type of behavior by wanting to ignore it.

There is nothing disrespectful about the content, if you were just smart enough to see that. What is disrespectful are the actions by our leaders and that needs to stop. If this posting will help it stop in any small way, then it has served it’s purpose.
